Why not a flyover bridge?
I agree with your comments in the Gleaner on the Bog Walk Gorge. My question is why a flyover (humpback) bridge has never been constructed across the Rio Cobre?
It should not be beyond the capability of engineers to construct this facility.
The toll road to the north will eventually ease the situation, but that would take away an alternative, especially for persons, living in close proximity to the gorge, on either side of the river.
In addition, the toll road, as its name suggests, would be at a cost to motorists.
If the Spaniards, some 300 years ago, could build what is there now (the Flat Bridge), with today's engineering skills, equipment and material, it cannot be an impossible feat to build a proper bridge across the river.
