Among the areas that have already received attention are the 4.2 kilometres stretch between the former Braco Hotel and Harmony Hall and the Burwood main road.

Work is now underway on the Coral Spring section of the Highway. This section of road featured in a fatal accident some years ago that claimed the life of former Reggae Boy, Steve “Shorty” Malcolm.

Approximately 12,000M2 of additional Micro Surfacing road repairs is to be carried out on this section of the highway. The works began today, Monday, September 14, 2015 and is expected to be completed by Friday.

These works include, the sweeping and washing of the pavement, and removing all silt from the surface and then applying two coats of Micro Surfacing material. Road marking will commence two weeks after completion of the paving works

and Raised Pavement Markers, “Cat Eyes” installed. Elsewhere along the corridor, between Montego Bay and Falmouth, guardrails are being repaired and new rails installed.

The contract for additional works is awarded to Micro Surfacing Company Limited for an amount of $6.2 million.

The NWA is advising motorists and pedestrians to obey all posted warning and directional signs and the instructions of flag persons while work is in progress.
