Several corridors across St. Thomas, Portland and St. Mary continue to remain impassable resulting from heavy rains ever the last 36 hours. In St. Thomas, Hagley Gap continues to be inaccessible to vehicular traffic, while in St. Mary four (4) areas are still cut off. The Rosemont, Border to Coffee Gully, Long Road and the Windsor Castle to Long Cane Hill are still inaccessible. In Portland landslides are blocking the road from Silver Hill Gap to Section, Buff Bay to Cascade, Windsor to Moore Town and the road to the community of Ginger House. The community of Belview is inaccessible, so too is Craigmill, Bottom Eden and Ythanside. Manager, Communication & Customer Services, Stephen Shaw says that heavy equipment has been deployed across the Parishes and that access has been regained to some communities. In St. Andrew, the New Castle Road which was blocked by landslide has been reopened; While in Portland corridors from School House Corner to Chepstowe, Spring Garden to Chepstowe, Mount Olive to Coopers Hill and Fellowship to Berrydale have all been reopened to single lane traffic. He says the team will be working into late this evening with a view to regaining access to more communities.
