The National Works Agency (NWA) is advising the public that a section of George Lee Boulevard (Dawkins Drive) in Portmore will be accessible only to single-lane traffic this weekend. The closure, which will be along the stretch leading to Highway 2000, is to facilitate repairs as part of a 28 million dollar programme.
The closure will be from 7:00 a.m. on Saturday, August 20, until 4:00 pm on Sunday. During the closure, contractors working on behalf of the NWA will remove the deteriorated road surface, which will then be repaved.
Motorists and pedestrians are being advised to use one of the alternative routes that bypass the work zone. They are also being advised to proceed with caution during the period that the work is being undertaken and to obey the instructions of flag persons and posted warning signs.
