Effective tomorrow, Friday, July 1, the Paisley main road in Clarendon will be closed to vehicular traffic. The road is been closed by the National Works Agency (NWA) in the vicinity of Junno Gully in order to facilitate critical repairs.

Manager, Communication and Customer Services at the NWA, Stephen Shaw says that the road, which had been reduced to single lane following a recent flood event has deteriorated further and now pose a threat to motorists.

He says the repairs which will be undertaken, starting at 8:00 am on Friday will see the construction of four retaining walls, the improvement of the drainage features and the rehabilitation of road affected section of road. This is being done at a cost of just under 20 million dollars.

Mr. Shaw says the road closure will be for a period of eight weeks and will result in traffic being diverted. The following will obtain for motorists wishing to travel from May Pen towards Palmers Cross. They may travel along Junno Crescent and through Junno Community. They may also use Hazard Drive and Trenton Road or the Bustmante Highway. The reverse will obtain for persons travelling from the direction of Palmers Cross towards the township of May Pen.

Motorists are being advised to obey the posted warning signs and instructions of the flag-persons during the period of closure.
