Minor Delays Expected in the Vicinity of the Sangster's International Airport Round-a-bout in St. James

The National Works Agency (NWA) is advising the travelling public that effective today, Monday September 26, 2011, minor delays should be expected in traversing the roadways in the vicinity of the Sangster’s International Airport round-a-bout in St. James. These delays will be experienced over the next two weeks, between the hours of 9:00 pm and 6:00 am.

The NWA says that over the next two weeks, local contractor Surrey Paving and Aggregates Ltd. will be carrying out milling and resurfacing activities at the airport round-a-bout.  These activities form part of efforts to rehabilitate this section of the roadway.

This project involves the construction of sidewalks and kerb and channels, the milling, reshaping and resurfacing of the roadway and the improvement of drainage systems in the area.

The project is valued at approximately $46 million is being executed under the NWA’s Jamaica Development Infrastructure Programme (JDIP). The rehabilitation project will complement the recently completed rehabilitation project along the nearby Queens Drive and the rehabilitation of the Sunset Boulevard and Gloucester Avenue.

Motorists are being advised to obey the posted warning signs and the instructions of flag person.
