The National Works Agency (NWA) is informing motorists who are planning to travel eastbound on the Mandela Highway in St. Andrew over the upcoming weekend that there will be a lane restriction when exiting the Q-Ramp.

The right lane of the Q-Ramp, which is the newly-constructed section of the roadway between the Ferry community and the Nestle building heading towards Kingston, will be closed to facilitate the installation of a pipe culvert.

Manager of Communication and Customer Services at the NWA, Stephen Shaw, says the activity is to accommodate the connection of NWC water mains to the Ferry Pen Industrial Development site, where Nestle is headquartered.

Mr. Shaw says the works are expected to be undertaken over two days, Saturday, February 17 and Sunday, February 18. The lane restriction will be in effect from 8 a.m. Saturday with both lanes being put back into operation by midnight on Sunday.

The area will be sufficiently backfilled to allow for the smooth flow of traffic following the completion of works. Motorists are being urged to obey the instructions of posted warning signs and flagmen during the period of works.
