The National Works Agency has commenced a second phase of works along the Christian Pen main road in Portmore, St. Catherine. The new phase of works include the cleaning of drains, construction on a new base and the laying of Asphaltic Concrete. Manager of Communication and Customer Services at the NWA, Stephen Shaw, says the new phase of works which should be completed in one month, complements activities undertaken earlier this year along the corridor. The NWA earlier this year completed works valued at just under 10 million dollars. Those works included significant drainage and base improvements. Under the new phase of works, some 2,700 square meters of road will be rehabilitated at a cost of just under eight million dollars. The work will be concentrated along the section of road near the Health Centre. Mr. Shaw is advising persons to expect minor delays in traversing the Christian Pen main road over the next two weeks, as the works are slated to be intensified.
