NWA Open Roads made impassable by Heavy Rains

The National Works Agency (NWA) has reopened the three roads in St. Andrew and St. Thomas, which up to this morning were impassable, resulting from heavy rains in the parishes between Sunday and yesterday.

In St. Andrew, the Papine to Bull Bay main road, which was yesterday blocked by huge boulders has been reopened to single access. The road from Bath to Barretts Gap in St. Thomas, which was blocked by landslides has also been reopened to single lane. The parochial road in the community of Danvers Pen, however, remains blocked. Efforts will be made tomorrow to have the corridor reopened.

In the meantime, the NWA is advising motorists to exercise extreme caution in using the main road through the Danvers Pen community in St. Thomas. The road has been reduced to single lane, resulting from a breakaway and is only able to facilitate the passage of small vehicles.
