Roadway linking St. Elizabeth to Westmoreland reduced to single lane traffic

The National Works Agency (NWA) is alerting motorists that the Luana to Scott’s Cove Main Road in St. Elizabeth is currently reduced to single lane traffic near the border with Westmoreland.

The NWA was forced to implement this measure as a box culvert, which is widely referred to as the Scot’s Cove Bridge, failed under heavy, sustained rainfall earlier this afternoon affecting primarily the westbound lane.

According to Manager, Communications and Customer Services at the NWA, Stephen Shaw, the Agency’s parish team has engaged a contractor to erect the necessary warning signs at the location. However they are waiting on a break in the weather to complete the task.

He says as such the NWA is imploring motorists to proceed through the area with extreme caution.
