The Forum Bridge in Portmore St. Catherine will be closed temporarily on Friday, November 13, 2015. The bridge’s closure will last for three months.

Manager Communication and Customer Services at the National Works Agency (NWA) Stephen Shaw says this temporary closure of the Forum Bridge is to facilitate repairs to the bridge’s superstructure.

Mr. Shaw says a detour road has been constructed adjacent to the bridge construction site to allow for the movement of traffic and pedestrians during its temporary closure. He says that this detour road will be opened to motorists and pedestrians on Friday, November 13, 2015. Operators of heavy duty vehicles will not be allowed to use the detour road.

He says that one-way directional flow northbound for motorists travelling in the direction of the Toll Plaza will operate during the morning peak hours, 5:00 a.m. to 9:00 a.m. and in the evening, 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. one way directional flow will operate southbound.

Motorists are advised to obey the instructions of the Police and the Traffic Signals that are posted at both approaches to the bridge.

The project commenced in September and is scheduled to be completed in six months. The $27.5 million project is awarded to Quality Plus Contracting Company Limited.

The NWA is also advising pedestrians to obey all posted warning signs and the instructions of flag persons during the construction works.
