The National Works Agency (NWA) is advising motorists that starting this evening and continuing into Thursday, March 29, the May Pen Railway Bridge in Clarendon   will be closed intermittently. The bridge will be closed at 7 o’clock this evening to vehicular traffic and will reopen at 5:00 tomorrow morning.

The structure which facilitates entry and exist into the town of May Pen will again be closed between the hours of 10:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m. on Thursday.

These temporary closures are to facilitate the removal of the badly rutted surface of the bridge and subsequent repaving with Asphaltic Concrete.

The alternative route during the period of closures for motorists travelling from the direction of Mineral Heights or Hayes towards the May Pen Town Centre is along the Bustamante Highway, then turn right onto Glenmuir Road, then onto the Town Centre. The reverse obtains travelling from the Town Centre, towards Mineral Heights, Hayes or Sandy Bay.

The NWA is advising motorists to obey posted warning signs and the instructions of flag persons during this temporary closure of the roadway.
