The National Works Agency (NWA) is advising motorists who use the roadway along the Bog Walk Gorge to expect delays between the hours of 1 p.m. and 3:00 p.m. today. Contractors working on behalf of the NWA will be carrying out blasting activities within the Gorge, which will necessitate the closing of the roadway at 10 minute intervals.

The blasting and removal of huge boulders forms part of the dredging activities that are being undertaken along a section of the Rio Cobre. This activity being carried out in the vicinity of “Rivets Corner,” approximately 2 kilometres from Kent Village, when travelling in the direction of Bog Walk.

The dredging works are a component of the Agency’s Inter American Development Bank financed 2007 Atlantic Hurricane Season Restoration Programme. This project is to restore the damaged road sections along the Spanish Town to Bog Walk corridor.

The NWA says that motorists using the roadway when work is in progress should be guided by posted warning signs and the instructions of flag persons.
