The National Works Agency (NWA) is advising that the Bog Walk Gorge in St. Catherine will remain closed to motor vehicles, out of an abundance of caution, due to the corridor still being blocked by utility poles. The roadway, which was expected to reopen today, November 6, cannot be reopened as it will be challenging for motorists to manoeuvre in the area due to the impediments.
Manager of Communication and Customer Services at the NWA, Stephen Shaw says that there is a JPSCo pole that is currently down in the space. He says that the electricity company has advised that they will need another 48 hours before they are able to address that issue and so the corridor will remain closed.
Mr. Shaw further stated that passage across the Flat Bridge would also have been a challenge for motorists because the traffic signals are currently not working. He says motorists should continue to use alternative routes to access their destinations.
The NWA will advise the public when the impediments have been removed and the corridor is once again safe to traverse.
