After being impassable for over two years, the main road from Border to Cuffy Gully in St. Mary is once again accessible to vehicular traffic. The roadway was rendered impassable during the passage of Tropical Storm Gustav in August 2008, as a result of a massive breakaway.

Community Relations Officer at the National Works Agency (NWA), Natalee Bloomfield - Rowe says that the project which started in 2009 is now nearly 90 per cent complete.

She says while the corridor is accessible, only small vehicles can be accommodated at this time. Additional work to ensure the safe passage of all vehicles is currently underway and should be completed by the end of March.

Mrs. Bloomfield – Rowe says work on the project is being completed as part of the retaining wall component of the Jamaica Development Infrastructure Programme (JDIP), which is currently underway across the island.
