Bridge to be closed for emergency work

The Wag Water River Bridge in Agualtavale, St. Mary will be closed to vehicular traffic tomorrow evening for emergency repairs.

Manager of Communication and Customer Services at the National Works Agency, Stephen Shaw says the bridge which is part of segment three of the Northcoast highway project will be closed between the hours of 7:00 pm and mid-night.

According to Mr. Shaw, the bridge is being closed to facilitate the removal of badly rutted sections, the placement of base course material and repaving. He says the bridge is one of 16 that the NWA is rehabilitating under the 5.6 billion dollar road improvement work, being done between Ocho Rios and Port Antonio.

In the meantime, motorists wishing to travel between Annotto Bay and Rosend are being advised to use alternate routes. Motorists traveling from the direction of Annotto Bay, heading towards White Hall are being advised to use the roadway through Georgia. Motorists heading towards Annotto Bay from the White Hall direction can use the routes through Esher or Bellfield.
