The National Works Agency (NWA) is advising that the main road between Orange Bay and Windsor Castle in Portland, will be closed this Sunday morning for six hours. The main road will be closed at the Spanish River Bridge from 3:00 am to 9:00 am.

The bridge, which is located in the community of Spring Gardens will be closed in order to facilitate construction work, being done as part of the 5.6 billion dollars North-coast Highway Improvement Project. As part of the project, the Spanish River Bridge is being widened to accommodate greater storm flows.

Motorists are being advised to schedule their travel times outside of the six hour period, as there is no alternate route along the north-coast for persons heading from the direction of Port Antonio to Buff Bay. The Spanish River Bridge is one of 16 being rehabilitated along the 96 kilometers stretch from Ocho Rios to Port Antonio. Eight new bridges are also being constructed. The NWA says that the 96 kilometers roadway project is now 75 per cent complete.
