Delays for motorists utilizing Charlton Ford this weekend

Motorists utilizing Charlton Avenue in St. Andrew will over the next few days experience some delays. This as the section of the corridor which has the Charlton Ford will be an active work zone. Rehabilitative works are now underway to correct defects to the concrete pad, which is critical to the passage of vehicles.

  

Excavation works which commenced last weekend are expected to resume on Thursday, March 16 on the section of the road leading to Hillman Road. The activities are expected to the ramped up over the coming weekend.

 

Manager, Communication and Customer Services at the National Works Agency (NWA), Stephen Shaw says that beginning at  8:00 am on Saturday, March 18, access to Hillman Road from the Charlton Ford will be restricted. The restriction will be to facilitate the pouring of concrete, as part of the rehabilitation work. The restriction will remain in place for three days ending on Tuesday, March 21.

 

Resulting from the activties, the following changes will be in effect. Motorists wishing to travel north along Constant Spring Road should turn left on Charlton Avenue then left onto Constant Spring Road, then right onto Mannings Hill Road, then right onto Saxthorpe Avenue. Motorists may also use Allerdyce Drive, back onto Olivier Road, then back onto Constant Spring Road.

 

The works are being done as part of the Ministry of Economic Growth and Job Creation’s (MEGJC), Maintenance of Secondary Main Roads 2022 Programme at a value of just under 11.5 million dollars.

 

Motorists are being advised to exercise caution, obey the posted warning signs and the instructions of the flagpersons.
