The National Works Agency (NWA) is advising motorists that continuous rainfall in Portland during the past 72 hours has resulted in multiple blockages and breakaways along several road sections in the parish.

In the Buff Bay Valley, the main road between Tranquility and Bangor Ridge, between Mile Post 6 and 8 has been reduced to single lane traffic. The Balcarres to Wakefield main road is also reduced to single lane access at Silver Hill between Mile Post 33 and 34. Multiple blockages are also along the Buff Bay to Balcarres roadway, in the community of Old Station, between Mile Post 36-38.

There are blocked drains, scouring and landslips along the main road between Hope Bay and Chips Hall in the vicinity of Cooling Spring. The main road from Chips Hall to Durham Gap is also being affected by blocked drains and severe scouring in the community of Fruitfulvale.

In Eastern Portland the main road from Windsor to Moore Town has been badly scoured in the community of Seamans Valley. Motorists are being advised to drive with caution along this roadway.

In the meantime, the Junction main road which was blocked at Georgia and Broadgate on Sunday is now clear, while the Evondale to Iterboreale main road just out side of the community of Enfield is blocked by debris and silt.

Technical Officers in the affected parishes have been dispatched along with equipment to the affected areas to clear the roadways and carry out cleaning up exercise.
