Heavy rains in St. Mary today forces immediate closure of the Border to Cuffy Gully Main Road

The National Works Agency is advising motorists that, effective immediately a section of the main road from Border to Cuffy Gully, in St. Mary has been closed to vehicular traffic.
Manager of Communication and Customer Services at the NWA, Stephen Shaw says heavy rains occurring in the parish today, has resulted in a severing of the roadway, in the vicinity of the Platfield community, rendering it impassable.

The alternative route for motorists travelling from Platfield towards Lawrence Tavern, is left at Border, through Mount Charles and back onto the main road.  For those motorists travelling from Border to Platfield, the alternative route is right at Border, through Seaton, into Montreal. Or they may go through Montrose to Richmond, then on to Platfield.

Mr. Shaw says the total cut off at Platfield is in fact an exacerbation of a major breakaway which had occurred there last year.
