The National Works Agency (NWA) is advising that the improvement works to the detour road located in the vicinity of the construction site of the new Dry River Bridge in Harbour View, scheduled to commence today, Monday, November 01 has been placed on hold.

The postponement of works is due to the threat of Tropical Storm Tomas.

The planned works included scarifying the road surface, laying and compacting base course material and paving the roadway with Asphaltic Concrete.

The NWA says that as soon as the conditions become favourable the works will commence and seeks the understanding of residents and motorists for the delay which is beyond the Agency’s control.

In the meantime, the NWA will also scale back plans to carry-out routine patching activities on several corridors in the Corporate Area.

The NWA says this proactive move is being done in order to reduce the likelihood of flood waters damaging the targeted road sections.
