The National Works Agency will begin rehabilitation work along Knightsdale Drive off Red Hills Road in Kingston this Monday March 12, 2007. The repairs to this one-kilometre long heavily trafficked roadway are being done through a $25 million contract awarded to Surrey Paving and Aggregates Limited.

Manager of Communication and Customer Services at the National Works Agency, Stephen Shaw says that the road repairs include the laying of kerbs, construction of sidewalks and preparation of the existing surface to receive asphaltic concrete which will extend the life of this roadway for up to ten years. He says the repairs are expected to be completed within six weeks.

Motorists and pedestrians who use this roadway are advised that it will be reduced intermittently, to single lane usage, which will be in effect until Friday April 20, to facilitate the repairs. The alternative routes while work is in progress are Meadowbrook Drive and the section of Red Hills Road in the vicinity of Chancery Street.

Motorists and other persons using this roadway are advised to proceed with caution and observe the instructions of flag persons and posted warning signs while work is in progress.
