Major Retaining Wall Programme being undertaken in Westmoreland

The National Works Agency (NWA) is undertaking a major Retaining Wall Programme valued at fourteen million dollars ($14 million) along four road sections in the parish of Westmoreland. This programme is expected to be completed by the end of May 2009.

According to the NWA this programme encompasses the construction of retaining walls along the Strawberry, Content, Darliston and Seaford Town roadways.

To date the contractors have completed the construction of the retaining walls along the Strawberry, Darliston and Seaford Town main roads. Rehabilitation of the roadways in the vicinity of the completed retaining walls is expected to be completed by the end of May.

Construction work on the retaining wall along the Content main road will commence by May 1, 2009.

In the meantime, the NWA recently completed a four point six million dollar ($4.6 million) patching programme along five road sections in the parish of Westmoreland.

The programme targeted the worst affected sections of the Hertford to Flower Hill roadway, the main road between Scotts Cove and Smithfield Bridge and the Grange Hill to Little London main road.
