Effective Monday, July 5, 2010, major changes will be implemented to the movement of traffic along a section of Molynes Road, in St. Andrew.

As of 6:00 a.m. next Monday (July 5) and continuing for a period of three (3) weeks, the northbound section of Molynes Road, between its intersection with Headley Avenue and its intersection with the Washington Boulevard, will be closed to vehicular traffic. This, to facilitate the construction of manholes at the Headley Avenue/Molynes Road Intersection and elsewhere within this vicinity.

The closure will be effected as follows:-
During morning peak hours (6:00 a.m. to 9:30 a.m.), Mondays to Fridays, motorists heading north along Molynes Road, i.e., towards the Molynes Road/Washington Boulevard Intersection, must detour onto Headley Avenue, and continue to the Headley Avenue/Washington Boulevard Intersection, where they may make a left to travel towards Six Miles, or a right to head towards Hughenden, or Constant Spring Road. During this time, motorists travelling south along Molynes Road, i.e., from the Molynes Road/Washington Boulevard Intersection towards Half-Way Tree, will be allowed to do so via the two traffic lanes presently existing.

However, from 9:30 a.m. – 6:00 a.m. Mondays – Fridays and during all hours on Weekends:Southbound traffic along Molynes Road, i.e., travelling towards the direction Half Way Tree from the Washington Boulevard/Molynes Road Intersection, will be allowed single-lane access only, from the Washington Boulevard Intersection to just beyond the vicinity of Headley Avenue. During this time, northbound traffic may continue towards the Molynes Road/Washington Boulevard Intersection. These motorists will be allowed single lane access via the same carriageway as those motorists heading south. Northbound motorists heading towards the direction of Six Miles and wishing to detour onto Headley Avenue during this time, will not be prohibited from doing so.

The works to be undertaken along Molynes Road which are expected to be completed by Monday, July 26, 2010, form part of the NWA’s US-23 million dollar project to dualise 2.5 kilometers of Washington Boulevard/Dunrobin Avenue corridor.

The National Works Agency advises motorists to obey the instructions of flag persons and posted warning signs during the period of works along Molynes Road.
