Mount Rosser Closed

The National Works Agency (NWA) is advising motorists that the Papine to Bull Bay main road in St. Andrew is now impassable. The Agency is also reminding motorists that the Mount Rosser roadway in St. Catherine will be closed for two days, effective tomorrow.

The roadway from Papine to Bull Bay has been rendered impassable, as a result of massive boulders in the community of Cane River. The alternative route is Bull Bay through Harbour View to Papine.

Come tomorrow (Tuesday) and Wednesday, the main road between Ewarton in St. Catherine and Faith’s Pen in St. Ann will be closed. The roadway will be closed between the hours of 9:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. each day. Closure is to facilitate construction work by Bouygues Construction Company on the Mount Rosser leg of the Highway 2000 Project.

Operators of small vehicles, traveling from the direction of Moneague in St. Ann towards Ewarton are advised to use the alternative route through the communities of Moneague, Grierfield, Camperdown, Thydixon, Worthy Park and into Ewarton. The reverse obtains for motorists traveling from Ewarton, in the direction of Moneague.

The National Works Agency is advising motorists using this roadway to drive with caution especially between the communities of Camperdown and Grierfield, as this section of the roadway is very narrow.

Operators of large trucks and trailers are being advised to schedule their travel times along the roadway from Ewarton to Faith’s Pen outside of the hours of 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. each day. Motorists are also advised to obey the instructions of flag persons and posted warning signs.
