The National Works Agency (NWA) is now in the final stages of completion of a $166 million road improvement project along the Jackson Town to Ulster Spring roadway in Southern Trelawny. To this end, construction activities are being ramped up ahead of the May 2024 scheduled completion date.

Consequently, motorists may experience minor delays, especially as they traverse the section of the roadway in the vicinity of the Sawyers community.

Community Relations Officer for the NWA’s Western Region, Janel Ricketts, says that over the course of the next two weeks, starting April 11, 2023 sections of the corridor, between the Sawyers Primary School and the Sawyers Square, will be periodically reduced to single-lane access. This is to facilitate the construction of a reinforced concrete retaining wall.

Ms. Ricketts says that the project, which began in May 2023 is now approximately 85 percent complete. The project involves significant drainage improvement, the construction of retaining walls, and the reshaping and asphalting of the roadway.
