Starting at 10 a.m. tomorrow, Thursday, July 9 a section of the Bog Walk Main Road in St. Catherine will be closed intermittently near the Church Road intersection to facilitate critical road and drainage repair works.

According to National Works Agency (NWA) Communication Manager, Stephen Shaw the project involves excavation and concrete works which will necessitate some traffic changes along the area.

He says only single lane traffic will be accommodated at best in the vicinity of the worksite and advises motorists to use the Linstead Bypass where possible to avoid delays. The works, which will be implemented over the next two months, involve the rehabilitation of the roadway with rigid concrete pavement as well as repairs to existing drainage features.

The Bog Walk Main Road project is valued at some $15.4 million dollars and is being implemented under the Government of Jamaica’s $4-billion dollar Maintenance of Secondary Roads programme.

Motorists are being urged to obey the directions of flag persons and posted warning signs during the period of works and to exercise extreme caution when travelling along the area especially at nights.
