The National Works Agency (NWA) is alerting the motoring public to the possibility of traffic delays along the roadway from Highgate to Palmetto Grove in St. Mary on Sunday, November 10. Works to replace a defective storm water culvert at Dean Pen is scheduled to be undertaken between the hours of 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. Manager, Communication and Customer Services at the NWA, Stephen Shaw explains that once the activities to install the new culvert begin, the movement of traffic along the area will be restricted. The project, which started on November 4, is aimed at improving deficient drainage features, removing soft spots and repairing the worst affected sections of the roadway with asphaltic concrete overlay. The works are valued at $5.6 million dollars and will be implemented over a six-week period. Motorists who plan to use the affected section of the Highgate to Palmetto Grove roadway on Sunday are being reminded to obey the posted warning signs and the instructions of flagpersons.
