The National Works Agency (NWA) is advising motorists to expect intermittent delays along the Fern Gully main road in St. Ann during the next six months. These delays are due to road rehabilitation works being carried out by the NWA between the district of Colegate at the entrance to Fern Gully, and Milford Road in Ocho Rios, under the Fern Gully Restoration and Rehabilitation Programme.

The NWA, under this programme, will be carrying out improvement to drainage structures, improvement to the road pavement with asphaltic concrete as well as Portland Cement concrete and replacing road markings.

These ongoing works is contracted to Surrey Paving and Aggregates Limited and this phase of the project is expected to cost just under $124 million.

The alternative routes for motorists travelling towards Ocho Rios are Bread Nut Hill and for those travelling in the direction of St. Ann’s Bay, is Golden Grove, Steer Town, Drax Hall onto St. Ann’s Bay.

The National Works Agency is advising motorists using the Fern Gully main road to obey the instructions of flag persons and posted warning signs while work is in progress.
