The National Works Agency (NWA) has commenced a 37 million dollar patching programme in South Central Jamaica, though which the condition of several road sections in the parishes of St Elizabeth, Manchester and Clarendon are expected to be improved.

Community Relations Officer for the NWA’s Central Region, Howard Hendriks says that some 27,000 square meters of roadways are being targeted for patching under the programme.

Among the corridors in the parish of St Elizabeth that are slated to be patched are that from Black River to Pedro Cross to Lititz, Malvern to Southfield, Braes River to Newton, Vauxhall to Arcadia, and Scotts Cove to Luana. Work has already commenced on these road sections.

In Manchester, the roadway from Caineshop to Skull Point, Walderston to Grantham, Gutters to Downs, and Kendal to Clarks Town will be patched, while in Clarendon, the focus will be on over 10 roadways including the corridors from Dunks to Mears Bridge, Alley to Rest and Danks to Soursop Turn.

The patching exercise is expected to be completed in these parishes by the end of April and forms part of the NWA’s routine activities that are being funded through the Road Maintenance Fund.
