The National Works Agency is in the final stages of completion of work to construct four retaining walls in the parish of Westmoreland. These retaining walls are being constructed at a cost of fourteen million dollars ($14 million).

According to the NWA, retaining walls have been constructed along the Strawberry, Darliston, Seaford Town and Content roadways. Sections of these roadways were severely eroded following persistent flood rains.

The roads in the vicinity of these walls, with the exception of the Content roadway, have been rehabilitated using Asphaltic Concrete.

The NWA says that the roadway in the vicinity of the new wall which was constructed at Content will be rehabilitated by the end of this week.

In the meantime the NWA has commenced a project to construct a retaining wall along the Bath Mountain roadway in the Parish. This retaining wall is valued at approximately two point five ($2.5 million) dollars. The project is expected to be completed by the end of July 2009.
