Following on the recent heavy rains across the country, some major corridors in the Kingston Metropolitan Region are now being targeted for repairs.

Major patching projects are now underway along several corridors in Kingston, St. Catherine and St. Andrew. In St. Catherine the corridor being addressed is Bourke’s Road, in Spanish Town, where approximately 2000 square metres of patching is being undertaken.

In Kingston and St. Andrew, six corridors have been selected for patching. These are Santa Maria to Turnbridge, Nolan Hill to Border, Stony Hill to Parke’s Road, Hagley Park Road, Constant Spring Road and Maxfield Avenue. Over 7,600 square metres of patching will be carried out on these six roadways.

Manager of Communications and Customer Services at the National Works Agency, Stephen Shaw says, the selected corridors are quite busy and motorists who use these roadways should expect delays. Mr. Shaw is advising motorist to use alternative routes of their choice.

These projects are expected to be completed within four weeks by mid July, and cost just under $18 million. Motorists are advised to obey posted warning signs and the instructions of flag persons while patching is in progress.
