The National Works Agency (NWA) is advising motorists that a retaining wall along the Kendal to Richmond main road in St. Mary has collapsed, reducing the roadway to single lane usage. This wall is located at an undermined section of the roadway located in the district of Cuffy Gully in the vicinity of the Richmond Farm Prison.

A work team from the NWA is now at the site undertaking temporary repairs which is expected to be completed within 48 hours.

Motorists are advised to obey the instructions of flag persons, posted warning signs and exercise extreme caution as this section of the roadway has narrowed.

In the meantime, the NWA is advising that the corridor from Richmond to Rose Hill which was last week reduced to single lane usage is now impassable. The roadway broke away during last week’s heavy rains. There is no alternative route.
