The National Works Agency will begin repairs to the main road between Faith’s Pen in St. Ann and Ewarton in St. Catherine this Wednesday April 11. The repairs which include milling and repaving of the roadway with asphaltic concrete, is expected to be completed within four weeks.

Manager of Communication and Customer Services at the National Works Agency, Stephen Shaw says work on the project will be undertaken between the hours of 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. each day, Monday to Sunday. He says the roadway will be closed to all vehicles and individuals except those given special permission to enter the area being repaired. These include emergency vehicles and identifiable residents of the community.

The alternate route for motorists with small vehicles travelling from Spanish Town towards St. Ann is St. Johns Road, Worthy Park, Tydixon, Camperdown, Grierfield onto Moneague. The reverse obtains for motorists travelling towards Spanish Town from St. Ann. They are advised to drive with caution especially between Camperdown and Grierfield as this section of the roadway is very narrow.

Drivers and operators of large trucks and trailers should schedule travel along the Faith’s Pen to Ewarton main road between the hours of 3 p.m. and 8 a.m. during the duration of the project.

The NWA is advising motorists to obey the instructions of flag persons and posted warning signs and apologises for any inconvenience the repairs to improve the roadway may cause.
