NWA to close the Horse Savannah Bridge in St. Thomas

Effective Wednesday, July 28, the National Works Agency (NWA) will be closing the Horse Savannah Bridge along the Pleasant Hill to Hector’s River main road in St. Thomas. The bridge is being closed to facilitate its demolition in preparation for the construction of a new structure.

The NWA advises that resulting from the closure of the bridge, a detour route will be opened adjacent to the structure to facilitate motorists.

As part of the work to be undertaken, the existing structure will be replaced by a steel girder two lane bridge at a cost of US$1.5 million. The project is scheduled to be completed by December 2010 and the NWA is advising motorists to proceed with caution and to obey posted warning signs.
