The National Works Agency (NWA) is advising that effective today traffic movement along Queens Drive in Montego Bay, St. James will be curtailed at certain hours. Starting at 10 tonight, the corridor will be closed and will reopen at 6 tomorrow morning.

Manager of Communication and Customer Services at the NWA, Stephen Shaw says that this arrangement will be in place for the next six (6) weeks to facilitate milling and repaving of the 2.5 kilometre along Queens Drive between the intersection of Leaders Avenue and St. James Street.

As a result of the closure, motorists heading towards downtown Montego Bay from the direction of the Sangster’s International Airport will be rerouted along Sunset Boulevard, Glouster Avenue to downtown Montego Bay or they may make a left turn from Queens Drive onto Leaders Avenue then onto Orange Street. Motorists travelling in the direction of the airport are advised to use Glouster Avenue and Sunset Boulevard.

Mr. Shaw says that the Queens Drive rehabilitation project is being undertaken at a cost of over 80 million dollars and forms part of the Jamaica Development Infrastructure Programme (JDIP).

The National Works Agency is advising motorists to exercise caution and obey the instructions of flag persons and posted warning signs while work is in progress.
