Effective this Tuesday, February 27, the National Works Agency will be closing the White Hall to Rosend main road in north east St. Mary on week days. The roadway will be closed between the hours of 6 a.m. and 6 p.m., but will be open to traffic at nights.

The White Hall to Rosend main road forms part of Segment 3 of the North Coast Highway which runs from Ocho Rios to Port Antonio.

Manager of Communication and Customer Services at the National Works Agency, Stephen Shaw says the roadway is being closed to facilitate the completion of base work along the seven kilometre stretch. He says the alternate route during the period of closure will be through Islington. Mr. Shaw says new directional signs have been placed along the roadway which was upgraded to facilitate the additional traffic flow.

The NWA is advising motorists not to use the White Hall to Rosend main road during the period of closure as it is dangerous to do so. They should instead use the alternate route and obey the instructions of flag persons and posted warning signs.

In the meantime Mr. Shaw says work on Segment 3 of the North Coast Highway is progressing steadily. Thirty new box culverts have been completed along the stretch from Ocho Rios to the Wag Water Bridge and work is now in progress on 11 others. The contractors have also completed the 64 pipe culverts, while work is in progress on another 13.
