The National Works Agency (NWA) is advising that effective this Friday, March 23, 2012, from 9:00 a.m. motorists using the Palisadoes main road will be diverted along a detour road located on the harbor-side of the existing roadway.

This has become necessary as part of the US$65 million project currently underway to rehabilitate and protect the Palisadoes shoreline. Diversion of traffic will continue in phases for the remainder of the project as the existing roadway is filled to the new level.

Manager of Communication and Customer Services at the National Works Agency Stephen Shaw says, motorists travelling east bound, that is from the direction of the airport round-a-bout towards Harbour View will divert onto the detour road in the vicinity of Gunboat Beach for a distance of approximately 1.5 kilometres, then continue onto the existing carriageway.

Mr. Shaw says motorists travelling west bound or from the direction of the Harbour View round-about towards the airport or Port Royal will use the west bound lane of the existing carriageway.

Motorists are advised to proceed with caution, obey posted warning signs and the instructions of flag persons.
