The National Works Agency (NWA) is advising motorists that a section of Barbican Road in St. Andrew, Located between the National Chest Hospital and the Burger King Restaurant, will be closed temporarily, for two days, from 6:00 a.m. on Saturday September 25 to 7:00 p.m. on Sunday, September 26, 2010.

The National Water Commission has been carrying out pipe laying at this location and closure of the roadway is to facilitate reinstatement works during the two days if the weather allows.

The alternative route during the period of closure for motorists travelling from the Wedcombe Road area is Charlemont Avenue, Monterrry Avenue, Hope Boulevard and then onto Durham Avenue or Durham Avenue, right onto Wilshire Avenue, left onto Paddington Terrace then onto Liguanea Avenue.

Travelling from the direction of Jacks Hill, motorists are advised to use Liguanea Avenue onto Hope Road. The reverse obtains when travelling towards Jacks Hill or Wedcombe Heights.

In the meantime, the NWA is also advising that on Monday, September 27, 2010 the reinstated roadway will be reduced to single lane, to facilitate paving works.

Motorists who use this corridor should obey posted warning signs and the instruction of flag persons.
