Residents of the Cooreville Gardens community in St. Andrew are soon to breathe a sigh of relief. This as the National Works Agency (NW) has undertaken to effect urgent repairs to the defective grating of a major drain located across the Bob Marley Boulevard, the main access road into the community.

Manager of Communication and Customer Services at the NWA, Stephen Shaw, says repair works which are scheduled to commence during next week, are expected to be completed by the end of October 2012, and form part of the 2012/2013 Routine Maintenance Programme being financed by the Road Maintenance Fund (RMF).

Residents of the Cooreville Gardens community, as well as other motorists who travel along Bob Marley Boulevard had for a long time been inconvenienced by the damaged drainage cover which extends for much of the width of the roadway and had hence reduced the roadway, in the vicinity of the drain, to single lane access. Mr. Shaw advises, however, that residents will not immediately see works being undertaken on site as a major aspect of the repair activities involve the fabrication of the drainage grating which will be carried out offsite.

The National Works Agency is advising motorists to proceed with during the period of onsite works, and to obey the instructions of flag persons and posted warning signs.
