Effective this Wednesday, December 9, the National Works Agency (NWA) will be introducing changes to the traffic arrangements in the town of Santa Cruz, St. Elizabeth. A temporary one-way system will come into effect, operating between the hours of 7 a.m. and 8 p.m. Monday to Saturday. The changes will be in effect until Monday January 4, 2010.

Manager for Communication and Customer Services at the NWA, Stephen Shaw says that the changes will see Main Street being converted to one-way, heading in the direction of Lacovia. Motorists wishing to travel from the direction of Lacovia towards Mandeville will be rerouted along the Santa Cruz By-pass.

Market Street which now accommodates vehicles in opposite directions will be converted to one way, heading in the direction of the By-pass. Institution Drive will also be converted to a one – way corridor, to accommodate vehicles heading in the direction of Main Street from the By-pass.

Mr. Shaw says the changes will not be in effect on Sundays and is advising motorists to obey posted warning signs.

The changes are being implemented in a bid to reduce congestion on the streets of Santa Cruz during the Christmas Season.
