The National Works Agency (NWA) is advising motorists that the Grant’s Pen Road in St. Andrew has been reopened.
The roadway was closed in early January this year in the vicinity of Grant’s Pen Drive and Shortwood Lane to facilitate construction of a Box Culvert. The culvert was considerably damaged during the passage of Tropical Storm Gustav in August last year. The roadway was reopened following the re-construction of the Box Culvert through a contract valued at $12 million.

Cleaning up exercises as well as completion of repairs to the gully invert in the vicinity of the newly constructed culvert is in progress.

In the meantime, the NWA is advising motorists that work has started on the Gutters to Free Town main road in St. Catherine.

The 10 kilometre long stretch of roadway is being rehabilitated under the Agency’s Periodic Routine Maintenance Programme at a cost of $141 million. The construction period is six months and motorists should expect intermittent delays while work is in progress.

The NWA is advising motorists to obey the instructions of flag persons, as well as posted warning and instructional signs. This project is expected to be completed by the end of October this year.
