NWA Tweaks Traffic Management Techniques in Manor Park, St. Andrew

The National Works Agency (NWA), has made adjustments to its traffic management plan in Manor Park, St. Andrew. Effective yesterday, Monday, July 6, one of three phases of traffic signals in the Manor Park area has been removed. The change is expected to reduce congestion levels at the location.

Manager of Communication and Customer Services at the NWA, Stephen Shaw says that traffic signals governing southbound traffic, located at Grosvenor and Stony Hill Road, have been recommissioned into service. He says that, conversely, the signals that were located at Norbrook Drive have been removed and replaced with stop signs. Motorists exiting Norbrook Drive will now have to merge with traffic on Constant Spring Road when there is space to do so.

Mr. Shaw says the change was necessary as congestion levels in Manor Park had increased in recent weeks. He says the junctions that are now governed by traffic signals represent the areas that carry the greater numbers of traffic from multiple roadways. The traffic signals are required to lessen the effects of this cumulative traffic movement.

With the changes the NWA expects that traffic will move safely and more effectively through the Manor Park square. Motorists are being advised to exercise caution as they maneuver the area and become more acquainted with the new movements.
