The National Works Agency (NWA) is undertaking another major road and drainage improvement programme along several road sections in the western parishes of St. James, Trelawny, Hanover and Westmoreland.

The NWA says that it will be undertaking a five point one million dollar bushing and drain cleaning effort along some one hundred and thirty two kilometres of roadways in the parishes of Trelawny, St. James and Hanover. Westmoreland has been excluded from this programme as it is one of five parishes that are maintained under the Agency’s billion dollar National Road Services Improvement Programme (NARSIP). The NARSIP is a three year routine maintenance contract which includes bushing and drain cleaning.

However, the parish of Westmoreland will benefit from the thirty point eight million patching aspect of the new work programme. This aspect of the programme targets over thirteen thousand square metres of roadway for patching and local rehabilitation.

The programme targets sections of the Fairfield main road in St. James, the roadway between Salt Marsh and Kent in Trelawny, the Riley to Glasgow main road in Hanover and the Hertford to Flower Hill roadway in Westmoreland.
