The National Works Agency (NWA) has commenced road improvement works along the Ferris to Mackfield roadway in the parish of Westmoreland.

According to the NWA, this latest effort involves the cleaning of several drains along the corridor. The project also involves the patching of critical sections of the roadway using Asphaltic Concrete.

Community Relations Officer for the NWA’s Western Region, Janel Ricketts says the work forms part of the Agency’s efforts to mitigate the likelihood of flooding associated with rains in April. The project also aims to improve the poor driving condition that is currently a feature of sections of the corridor.

The project is being executed by one of the NWA’s Force Account Teams at a cost of approximately $10 million.
