A team from the National Works Agency (NWA) is currently working to clear two road blocks in the south-eastern parish of St. Thomas.
The roadways became blocked by landslides and fallen trees as a result of persistent overnight rains. The roadway from Wilmington to Morant Bay is completely blocked at Wilmington and the corridor from Hordley to Haning is completely blocked at Rowlandsfield.
Communication and Customer Services Manager at the NWA, Stephen Shaw, says work crews have been kept busy over the last two weeks with reopening roads affected by landslides due to the ongoing rains which have been affecting particularly southern parishes.
The NWA team is now working to allow motorists access through the communities Wilmington and Rowlandsfield in the shortest possible time.
In the meantime, the NWA is urging road users to exercise caution when travelling along roadways that are susceptible to landslides and fallen rocks, resulting from the recent rains.
