The National Works Agency (NWA), is advising that four traffic signals are now out of commission, in and around the city centre of Montego Bay, St. James. Motorists are therefore being advised to exercise extreme caution while navigating these intersections.

Community Relations Officer for the National Works Agency’s (NWA), Western Region, Janel Ricketts, says that the intersections that are affected are the Providence and Elegant Corridor; St. James Street and Embassy Place; Harbour Street and Meagre Bay Road; and Kings Street and Market Street.

Ms. Ricketts says that there is significant damage to the hardware components of several of the affected signals; some of which have been impacted by lightning strike during recent flood rains. Ms. Ricketts added that the technical team is working to have the issues addressed in short order.

In the interim, road users are being reminded that when traffic signals are out of service, no one has the right of way. Motorists should therefore exercise caution in navigating these intersections.
