Persistent rainfall now affects several roadways in the Western end of the Island

The National Works Agency (NWA) is advising that a section of the main road from Falmouth to Springvale in Trelawny is now inundated. The roadway is flooded in community of Bliss Pastures roadway in Trelawny and is only accessible to large vehicles.

Operators of small vehicles, who are travelling from the direction of Falmouth towards Deeside, should turn left in the vicinity of the Wakefield Police Station and travel through the Friendship community and then on to Deeside.

The reverse obtains for motorists travelling from the Deeside direction towards Falmouth.

The NWA is also advising that motorists should exercise caution when travelling through the Tilston and Moefield communities as there is some amount of inundation in these areas.  

In the meantime, the NWA is advising that a section of the Comfort Hall corridor, which falls along the parochial roadway leading from Wales Pond to Bogue in St. James, is currently inundated. Operators of small vehicles should not attempt to use this roadway until the storm water has subsided.

The NWA is also now mobilizing teams to reopen two corridors which have been rendered impassable due to landslides. However they are being hampered by the persistent rainfall in these areas. These include the Kempshott and Guilsbro to Kensington roadways in the parish
