The National Works Agency (NWA) is advising motorists that the entrance to the Granville community from the Fairfield roadway in St. James will be closed this Sunday March 7, 2009.

The NWA says that the intersection is being closed to facilitate pipe laying activities. This closure will not affect motorists travelling along the Fairfield roadway. The period of closure will extend from 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM on Sunday.

Motorists travelling into the Granville community from the direction of Fairfield are being advised to travel via the Tucker roadway, turn right in the vicinity of the Total Gas Station and then make another right at the Gutters intersection.

The reverse will be true for motorists travelling from Granville towards Fairfield. These motorists will turn left at the Gutters intersection, left in the vicinity of the Total Gas Station and then proceed along the Tucker main road towards Fairfield.

Motorists are being advised to obey the posted warning signs and instructions of flag persons.

The pipe laying activities form part of the Agency’s efforts to repair the one point five kilometers of roadway leading from the Fairfield and West Green intersection to the Fairfield Bridge. The works are being undertaken as part of the $1.4 billion Segment 1A Northern Coastal Highway Improvement Project (NCHIP).
