A number of roadways across the parish of St. Catherine are currently receiving attention under various National Works Agency (NWA) roadworks programmes.

NWA Communication and Customer Services Manager, Stephen Shaw, says chief among these are projects along the Williamsfield to Glengoffe corridor in northeast St. Catherine; Christian Pen to Newlands in Portmore; roadways in Ensom City and Eltham Park as well as Corlette Road in Spanish Town.

Mr. Shaw explains that the scope of works include primarily local road rehabilitation and pothole patching and repair with sidewalk and retaining wall construction as well as drain cleaning being the focus along some roadways. These five main projects are valued at some 175 million dollars and complement routine maintenance activities, which are ongoing along other roadways in the parish.

The projects which started as early as September last year are, in the main, practically completed with the newest project from Christian Pen to Newlands, scheduled to be wrapped up by mid-summer. In excess of 10 kilometers of roadway would have been rehabilitated across the parish of St. Catherine on the completion of these works.
